Joint Mobilisation and Musculoskeletal Testing
Online Course with Gillian Higgins

An 8-week advanced training programme for professional equine therapists

7th October to 2nd December 2026

Movement is essential for maintaining comfort, mobility, and long-term musculoskeletal health in horses. Healthy joint mechanics support circulation, lymphatic flow, fascial balance and overall wellbeing. Yet in the real world, many horses experience periods of limited turnout and restricted movement, often beyond our control, making therapeutic intervention crucial for the horse’s welfare and comfort.

This in-depth online programme is designed to help equine therapists enhance their ability to recognise, assess, and improve joint and soft-tissue function through targeted mobilisation, stretching and strengthening techniques.

You’ll learn how to identify subtle changes in joint range, understand what “anatomically normal” movement looks and feels like, and apply evidence-based techniques to support mobility, comfort and long-term performance.

What You’ll Learn:

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Understand normal joint range of movement and identify abnormal patterns

  • Detect subtle musculoskeletal restrictions through hands-on assessment

  • Apply appropriate mobilisation and stretching techniques to improve comfort and function

  • Develop strengthening programmes to support joint health and long-term performance
