Course Content: Movement

Good movement helps to improve performance and reduce the risk of injury. It is a reflection of good joint health, suppleness, flexibility, strength, core stability, balance, coordination and generally good musculoskeletal health. The course focusses on giving you a method for assessing movement, to help you recognise and understand stiffness, weakness, asymmetry. There will also be lots of tips and exercises demonstrated that you can do with your own horses at home to help improve movement. I will also share markers with you so you know when to call the help of an expert or vet. You do not need to bring your own horse.

This course will be of interest to horse owners, coaches, trainers and dressage and showing judges.

Course Content: Posture

We all know that good posture helps us to reduce the risk of injury and improve performance within our own bodies. Well the same is true for the horse. Poor posture increases the stress and strain on many anatomical structures. It is the cause of many muscular, ligamentary and osteoarthritic problems, as well as the root of many movement and performance issues. This course will look at common examples of poor posture and give you a system to assess your horse's posture.

As soon as we sit on our horse's back we compromise his posture as well as ability to balance, move and perform. Therefore we need to think of ourselves as personal trainers to our horses. This course will help you become just that. There will be lots of tips and exercises to improve posture that you can do with your own horse when you get home. You do not need to bring your own horse.
